Arms of Doom (2017)
A performative experiment using ranging sensors and arm extension booms.
Conceived and executed as part of the dadageek class on audio DSP using Max. Version 1.0 of the setup was performed at the dadageek showcase. Arduino programming by Alan Watts.
Project Description
We're taught it's impolite to point. What if someone sporting unnaturally long bionic arms confronted you, waving those arms and pointing them at you? What if when pointed at you the arms produced sounds of an electro-organic nature? Would you feel comfortable? Wary? Assaulted? Would the interaction be consensual? Would you be comfortable playing the role of performative tool?
